47-year-old man charged following New Brunswick home invasion

A 47-year-old man from Riverview, N.B., has been charged following a home invasion in Bass River, N.B.

On October 17, 2025, at approximately 8:35 a.m., the Richibucto RCMP and the New Brunswick RCMP’s Southeast District Community Crime Reduction Unit responded to a report of a home invasion on Route 116 Bass River.

Two individuals entered the residence armed with a firearm and forcibly confined the resident for a period of time before fleeing with the victim’s pickup truck and all-terrain vehicle. The resident sustained what were believed to be minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The pickup truck was later recovered.

Throughout the course of their investigation, police were able to identify a person of interest. On October 22, 2025, with the assistance of the Codiac Regional RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit and the New Brunswick RCMP’s Emergency Response Team’s specialized training, an individual was arrested at a residence on Pioneer Avenue, in Moncton.

Later the same day, 47-year-old Stephen Cail appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with robbery with a firearm. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to reappear in court on November 12, 2025.

The investigation is ongoing.
