Strathcona RCMP lay several charges following investigation into August property damage complaint

On August 20, 2025, shortly after 2:00 pm, Strathcona County RCMP received reports that a dark coloured SUV pulling a trailer had crashed into a residential fence on Range Road 214 and Township Road 512, Strathcona County. 

The adult male driving the SUV was confronted by the homeowner, which resulted in him abandoning the SUV and trailer and taking off into a nearby wooded area on a bicycle. 

The suspect then proceeded to steal a pickup truck from a second residential property, in attempts to leave the area. A handgun, knives and break in tools were amongst the items recovered at the scene.

Strathcona County RCMP General Duty, Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), Property Crime Unit (PCU) and Police Dog Service (PDS), responded to the area and were able to bring the male suspect into custody.

Strathcona County RCMP PCU took carriage of the investigation which resulted in Cheyenne Robert Chubb (35), a resident of Edmonton, being charged with the following:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Resisting a peace officer
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime (x3)
  • Mischief (x5)
  • Theft of credit card
  • Being unlawfully in a dwelling unit
  • Failing to comply with a previous release order

Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Chubb was remanded into custody.  Chubb will be appearing before the Alberta Court of Justice on November 5, 2025.
