On March 11, 2026, as the result of an ongoing investigation, the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on 50 avenue in Wetaskiwin. This same residence was subject of a search warrant in 2025 where Fentanyl was seized. As a result of this search, RCMP seized 70 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged 41-year-old Michael Kevin Drinnan with Possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance.
Drinnan was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for March 17, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
On March 12, 2026, as the result of a separate ongoing investigation, the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on 48 Street in Wetaskiwin.
As a result of the search, RCMP seized:
- 60 grams of suspected Methamphetamine;
- 3.5 grams of suspected Methamphetamine/Fentanyl mix;
- 4.5 grams of suspected Carfentanil..
As a result, RCMP have charged 47-year-old Crystal Depagie with Possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance.
Depagie was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released with her next court date set for April 9, 2026 at the Alberta Cout of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
“These two arrests will have an immediate effect on the supply of Methamphetamine in our community,” said Cpl. John Learn of the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, ”these prolific drug traffickers need to understand that we know who you are, where you live, and we have a dedicated group of officers targeting your illegal and dangerous activity.”
