The investigation into the disappearance of Ashley Collins (née Fricke) is still ongoing, says Drayton Valley RCMP Sergeant Dan Ferri, but there are no updates at this time.
Collins was last seen on June 17, 2020, at 1:30 a.m. when she left her ex-boyfriend’s property on foot on RR 83. Collins was carrying garbage bags filled with enough clothing to fill a queen-sized closet. When her ex went to work the next morning at 5:30 a.m., he did not see her.
In a previous interview with the Free Press, Michelle Maisonneuve, Collin’s sister, said when Collins left her ex’s house that night, she would have been dressed in jeans and brand name clothing. Maisonneuve said her sister was not someone who would have worn anything but brand name clothing, and she wouldn’t have left the place without looking put together, even if it was in the early morning hours.
There are some who believe Collins may have moved to Kelowna, but her family doesn’t believe this to be true. As Collins is a devoted mother of five children, they don’t believe she would have abandoned them.
Anyone who may have seen anything between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on June 17, 2020 is encouraged to contact RCMP or Crimestoppers.
