RCMP makes arrest in homicide investigation

On Oct. 7, 2025, Evansburg RCMP were called to a deadly altercation that took place at a rural Tree Farm in Yellowhead County, Alta. Evansburg RCMP, assisted by Mayerthorpe RCMP, Edson RCMP, as well as Alberta RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft System and Police Dog Services, arrived on scene to locate the deceased male and started searching for the suspect, who had fled the scene. The suspect fled to Spruce Grove, Alta., where he was safely arrested. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of the investigation. The victim was identified as 50-year-old Yellowhead County resident Robert Brett Macleod. MacLeod was known to the suspect.

As a result of the investigation, Levi Allen Williamson (39), a resident of Yellowhead County, has been charged with:

  • 2nd degree murder;
  • Dangerous driving; and
  • Flight from police.

Williamson was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Evansburg on Oct. 21, 2025. The investigation is ongoing.
