Cold Lake RCMP arrests male on Canada-Wide warrant

On Oct. 6, 2025, Cold Lake RCMP officers attended an address on 52 Avenue to locate stolen property. Upon arrival, members observed a known prolific offender, who had an outstanding Canada-Wide warrant for being unlawfully at large, flee from the back of the residence. Cold Lake RCMP members observed that the male was in possession of a shotgun, resulting in the pursuit of this male on foot.

The male was apprehended after a high-risk takedown on 51 Avenue. The male, identified as Shawn Piche (40), was taken into custody. A loaded shotgun and several rounds of ammunition were in his possession and have been seized.

Piche was charged with the following offences:

•             Obstruction

•             Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

•             Unauthorized possession of a firearm

•             Possession of a prohibited weapon with readily available ammunition without authorization

•             Possession of a firearm contrary to a firearms prohibition order

Piche was brought before a justice of the peace and was remanded in to custody. Piche is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on Oct. 15, 2025.
