Moses Lake, Alta. – On Oct. 20, 2025, at 5:20 a.m., Blood Tribe Police Service and Cardston RCMP were called to a residence in the Moses Lake area for a report of a male suffering from a gun shot wound. Life saving measures were attempted, however, 30-year-old Stone Black Rider, a resident of Blood First Nation, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
RCMP Major Crimes Unit took carriage of the investigation, and with the assistance of Blood Tribe Police Service, Lethbridge and Coaldale RCMP Police Dog Services, and Cardston RCMP, on October 20, 2025, an arrest was made. 20-year-old Tyler Bird, a resident of Blood First Nation, has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Bird was remanded into custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge on Oct. 21, 2025.
