Valleyview RCMP arrests suspect who was recently released from custody

Valleyview, Alta. – On Oct. 20, 2025, Valleyview RCMP were informed that someone who had recently been released pending trial, and who was on conditions not to possess firearms, used a firearm to assault the complainant. Valleyview RCMP conducted an investigation and were able to arrest the suspect.

As a result of the investigation, Jeneva Chowace (29), a resident of Valleyview, was charged with 9 offences, including:

•             Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;

•             Assault with a weapon;

•             Resist arrest;

•             Failure to comply with order; and

•             Possession of firearm while prohibited.

Chowace was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. She it to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on Oct. 23, 2025.
