On Oct. 7, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) tracked a stolen vehicle to Happy Trails campground. RCMP members observed a male lock the vehicle and walk towards a trailer. He was subsequently taken into custody. Members then learned the trailer was stolen as well, resulting in both the vehicle and trailer being seized. Furthermore, a search of the trailer led to the arrest of two more individuals within as well as the seizure of:
- Approximately 300 grams of Cocaine;
- A loaded handgun
- A stolen SKS rifle; and
- Ammunition.
As a result of the investigation, Cole Sazwan (25), a resident of Beaverlodge, Ethan Dow (24) and Annika Anderson (21), both residents of Grande Prairie, were charged with:
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Firearm obtained by commission of an offence;
- Careless storage of a firearm and;
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (x2).
Sazwan was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody while Dow and Anderson were released on conditions. Sazwan is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on Oct. 10, 2025, while Dow and Anderson will appear before the same court on Nov. 16, 2025.
