On Dec. 25, 2025, at 8:48 p.m., Gleichen RCMP responded to a report of an assault on the Nation.
Officers attended the residence of the victim and determined that he required medical attention. He was transported to a Calgary hospital.
On Dec. 26, 2025, the victim passed away, and an autopsy performed on Dec. 29, 2025, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary, determined the manner of death was homicide. RCMP Major Crimes Unit took carriage of the investigation.
On Jan. 6, 2026, Paul Glen McMaster (40), a resident of Siksika First Nation and Calgary, was arrested for the murder of Jarrett Solway (35). He has been charged with manslaughter.
After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, McMaster was remanded into custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice on Siksika First Nation on Jan. 8, 2026.
