Carstairs, Alta. – On Nov. 3, 2025, Didsbury RCMP initiated an investigation into allegations of sexual offences committed against a youth.
Investigators from Didsbury RCMP, with assistance from the Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre in Calgary, determined the victim had been assaulted on two occasions between 2024 and 2025.
During the 2025 sexual assault, it is alleged the accused photographed the victim during the assault.
Later that evening, RCMP arrested the accused and executed a Criminal Code search warrant at the accused’s residence, resulting in the seizure numerous evidentiary items.
As a result of the investigation, Nathan Engen (41), a resident of Carstairs, has been charged with the following offences:
- Sexual Assault (2 Counts)
- Sexual Exploitation (2 Counts)
- Sexual Interference
- Make Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
- Possess Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
Engen was remanded into custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on Nov. 10, 2025, at 09:30 a.m.
